Roman English
Tapari maajhera kahilei chokhidaina !
Literal English Translation
A leaf plate never becomes pure/clean by washing/scrubbing it.
English Meaning
This proverb means that the inherent nature, flaw, or impurity of something or someone cannot be changed or purified merely by superficial efforts or cleaning. Just as a used leaf plate ('tapari') cannot be made ritually pure again by washing, some fundamental faults or characteristics cannot be rectified by simple attempts.
English Proverb
You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
