Roman English
Chhoro bhanda naati pyaaro, sawaa bhandaa byaaj pyaaro !
Literal English Translation
A grandson is dearer than a son, interest is dearer than the principal amount.
English Meaning
This proverb suggests that people often find the next generation derived from their children (grandchildren) dearer than their own children, and the profit/growth derived from their capital (interest) dearer than the capital itself. It highlights the human attachment to continuation, growth, or profit derived from an original source.
